Bert was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and was involved in commercial real estate his whole life, putting together deals for apartments, office buildings and shopping centers.
His business lunches at The Terrace restaurant on top of the Kaden Tower were lengendary.
Born May 6, 1933, to Morris and Bess Sotsky Plattus of Louisville, he was the youngest brother of James, Robert and Jeanne (Wasserman).
Simon was the last surviving of the children, who were raised in Syracuse, NY, but returned to their mother's hometown at the end of the 1940's.
He was a lifelong member of Congregation Adath Jeshurun, the Jefferson County Pharmacy Association, the Veteran Drug Club, and the University of Kentucky Alumni Association.
He was a lifelong member of the Clover Club and a past member of the Jewish Community Center.
He graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1938, Union College in 1942, and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1946. He is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren: Jacob, Henry, Leo, and Lena. Louis, MO; daughter, Connie Rieser (Rabbi Louis) of Windham, NH; brother, Ivan Goldstein (Ruth); 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
